Why did you choose Point Park?
I chose to come to Point Park because I love being in the city and being surrounded by so many unique individuals.
What makes going to Point Park for your major different from any other university?
Most colleges don’t offer funeral service as a major, so that’s one of the main reasons why I chose Point Park!
Who is your favorite professor, advisor or staff member on campus?
My favorite staff members on campus would have to be the lovely security guards in all of the buildings.
What do you like most about going to school in the city?
I love going to school in the city because there is always so much to do! Whether it is going to get food or shopping around, it’s always a new adventure!
How did you adjust to life in the city when you first arrived on campus?
I got adjusted to life in the city with the help of my amazing friends and family. Plus, I’ve always been a city girl so it wasn’t hard for me! Not much to get adjusted to when there are so many places to shop around!
What activities are you involved in (both on-campus and off)?
I already had a job in my field of study upon starting Point Park. I work at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home. I landed this job back when I was 16 because I would always help out during the community days every Fourth of July. During that time, I met one of the funeral directors and he gave me this wonderful opportunity! This is what led me to pursue a career in funeral service. I am attending the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary science currently and I will be back at Point Park University my senior year to finish up my degree.
What advice would you give to an incoming student?
The best advice I could give an incoming student would have to be to make sure they take everything in slowly and love it while it lasts because it goes by so quickly! Also, hold onto who you are because I’ve witnessed first hand how easy it is to lose sight of yourself.
